Longtime City Paper photographer Sam Holden is best known for his poppy, film-only shots of bands, food, and Baltimore characters, which helped shape the look of the paper. But Holden, who passed away suddenly on Saturday, also dove deep into the fetish community for other pieces, which teetered between the colorful, erotic concepts of Guy Bourdin and the tawdry glam of Helmut Newton. Working with Sam's father, Stockton “Todd” Holden, we put together a gallery of some of Sam's art. "These are excellent, beautiful, and so typical of Sammy my son," the elder Holden wrote in an email of these pieces. "He filled my heart with his images. He was my son, my brother, and I’m lost today without him."
